Joe O'Connor (born 8 November ) is an English professional snooker player from Leicester. He was the English Amateur Champion and a ranking event finalist at the Scottish Open.
Career

[edit]Previously a junior pool champion, O'Connor qualified for the snooker main draw as an amateur at the Wuxi Classic, then faced Neil Robertson at the ,[1][2] and Mark Selby at the UK Championship.[3] He won four events on the –18 English amateur tour.[4]
Ahead of the –19 season, O'Connor defeated Brandon Sargeant 4–1 and then Oliver Brown 4–0 to secure a two-year professional tour card for the first time at the EBSA Play-Offs at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.[5] In June , he beat Andrew Norman 10–3 to become the English Amateur Champion before turning professional.

Biography
Joe O’Connor is one of Australia’s most accomplished young jazz pianists and composers. He was the winner of the prestigious National Jazz Award held annually at Wangaratta Jazz Festival, and was the recipient of the Bell Award for young Australian jazz artist of the Year.
Joe holds a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours from the Queensland Conservatorium, where he majored in advanced performance. He was the highest achieving student in his graduating year and was awarded the Conservatorium medal. He is currently in the final year of a PhD in musical performance at Monash University, exploring ways that Ruth Crawford Seeger’s approach to dissonant counterpoint can inform his composition and improvisation.
Joe co-directs of the Bennetts Lane Big Band and performs original music with his own trio and quintet. His trio with Marty Holoubek and James McLean recently recorded a set of original music for ABC Jazztrack in April The resulting album, PRAXIS, is now available for purchase in the recordings page of this site, and can be purchased digitally in iTunes.
